In affiliation with the College of Arts and Sciences, Jim Acosta will appear on The Quick Live to discuss his bestselling book, The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth, highlighting his exploits as a news reporter for CNN.
At 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Quick Center for the Arts will host an Open VISIONS Forum (OVF) virtual lecture, titled “The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth,” led by Jim Acosta, CNN’s chief domestic correspondent and weekend programming anchor. Tickets are $10-$20 and available at quickcenter.com. At a time when politics has become increasingly polarized, Acosta will speak about his experience as CNN’s chief White House correspondent during the controversial presidency of Donald J. Trump.
Before his work at the White House, Acosta was a part of CNN’s 2012 election coverage, primarily as the lead correspondent in Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. Acosta went on to cover the White House during the Obama and Trump administrations. He was one of the most visible reporters to frequently spar with former President Trump, and received a “Truth to Power” award from the New York Press Club for his reporting.

Jim Acosta’s media career began in radio, where he worked as an anchor at various stations prior to making his transition to television. In his early TV work as a correspondent for CBS Newspath from 2001 to 2003, he covered the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the D.C. sniper attacks, and other significant events before moving to the CBS Evening News; he has been at CNN since 2007.
Acosta’s debut book, The Enemy of the People: A Dangerous Time to Tell the Truth in America, became a New York Times bestseller upon its 2019 release. Detailing his unique and challenging experience as a White House reporter, the book exposes what it’s like to be known as a sitting president’s “most hated correspondent,” and details Acosta’s uncompromising efforts to preserve the First Amendment and #RealNews.
