¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp stages mock accident this Wednesday to warn students about drinking and driving

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp students want their peers to view the wrecked cars and tragic aftermath of a simulated automobile accident in hopes it will make them think about the effects of drinking and driving.

The ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Student Association's Freshman Class Council spearheaded the project to display the mock accident, with support from the Security Department and the Office of Wellness and Prevention. Fairfield Fire and Police departments, emergency medical technicians and Spear Funeral Homes are also actively involved in the project.

The mock accident will take place in front of Campion Hall at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23. Students from FUSA requested the simulation to warn their fellow students before the upcoming social events of May Day weekend, the last weekend before finals.

"We'd like to heighten the awareness of the ramifications of drinking and driving," said Todd Pelazza, director of security at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp.

Students from the University of New Haven's Fire Science Club, which regularly stages mock accidents, will pose as the operators and passengers of the vehicles.
