Jon Haug of Cranford, N.J., who graduated from ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp on Sunday, May 21, will be traveling to Haiti where he will spend two years working in Project Pierre Toussaint, a program for homeless street kids.
Jon was introduced to the program last year as a member of the Mission Volunteer Program that went to Cap Haitian where the Project has established a school for 40 boys and cottages are being built to house eight boys each, along with a houseparent.
A biology major, with an interest in poetry, Jon received "The Small Pond Award for the Best Poetry Portfolio" at the year-end Arts and Sciences Awards ceremony held on campus. Jon has won numerous poetry awards and represented the university at the State level this year.
A devout Lutheran, he served as the student leader for the Protestant ministry in the Jesuit university's Campus Ministry program.
