How to be Productive for Online and At-Home Learning
As our world faces the fast-spreading pandemic of COVID-19, we are adapting to new ways of life. As students, we now have to learn and study through online class sessions from the comfort of our own homes, which presents many new challenges. Under these circumstances, and with a host of new distractions, how can we remain productive?
Here are some tips and ideas – for students, by a student who is also adjusting to at-home learning:
1.
Start Calendar Blocking
Create a time block schedule that carefully organizes your day. Start with blocking off time for online lectures, and continue by adding in times to eat lunch, study, do homework, and email questions to your professor. Penciling in specific times for at-home workouts, doing laundry, etc. are all ways you can fill the day.
2.
Find A Comfortable Working Space
It can be difficult to maintain focus while lounging on a couch or bed. Be creative and designate an area in your home for studies. Whether you’re at a kitchen table or a desk, a room with windows and natural light will make your day brighter!
3.
Make A Daily Checklist
Hand-write a checklist of things you would like to accomplish by the end of the day. Do you have a goal to drink 8 glasses of water? Are you actively making a habit of washing your hands more than usual? Physically crossing off completed tasks will help motivate you to get the job done.
4.
Take Care of Your Body and Mind
Do an at home workout, pick up a new hobby or refine old tricks. Take a walk or open a window in an effort to get fresh air daily. You can even access virtual RecPlex classes! Tune in Mondays & Thursdays at 4:00pm and Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 8:00pm . Although you may feel isolated, the personal improvements you can make are limitless.
