Faculty Member and Author Amanda Parrish Morgan Discusses "Stroller" at Bookstore

As her first book, Stroller, which launched in October from Bloomsbury’s Object Lesson series, is about all things stroller.

The ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Bookstore is hosting a reading, signing, and celebration of Professor of Writing and Author Amanda Parrish Morgan's first book launch on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.

Her new book, Stroller, delves deep into the history and background of one of the most important things expectant parents are told to buy. None is a more visible symbol of status and parenting philosophy than a stroller.

According to Lynn Steger Strong, author of Want, "Part object history, part capitalist critique, a consistently acute and deeply felt depiction of the pleasures, traps, thrills, and dangers of early parenthood, Morgan's Stroller compellingly depicts the history and taxonomy of this most weighty and unruly device, ally, and antagonist.”

Amanda Parrish Morgan teaches writing at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp and at the Westport Writers' Workshop. A former high school English teacher, her work has appeared in The American Scholar, n+1, The Washington Post and elsewhere.
