Fairfield’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts will visit the neighboring town of Westport, Conn., to host an intimate evening with organist Cameron Carpenter at The Saugatuck Congregational Church.

Cameron Carpenter is an organist, composer, organ designer, and self-proclaimed “machine operator” whose musical talents appear to be endless. Carpenter’s skills have been recognized internationally, receiving the first organist Grammy Award nomination for his solo album, Revolutionary. A highlight of the Quick Center’s season, the acclaimed organist will perform Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations and other Bach compositions at the Saugatuck Congregational Church in downtown Westport on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m.

Carpenter received a master’s degree from the illustrious Juilliard School in New York, and has shared his immense talents in powerful, spirited performances from the U.S. to Australia’s famed Sydney Opera House. The New York Times described Carpenter as “extravagantly talented… the audience’s response was raucous… everything he touches turns fantastical and memorable.”

With clear enthusiasm for music and a passion for the instrument, Cameron pushes the boundaries of organ playing and technique. Giving the classical style a modern twist, the organist displays his musical intelligence in each performance, as he did the first time he performed with his international touring organ to rave reviews at the Quick Center in 2016. Now Carpenter returns to his roots by moving back into churches and sacred spaces to honor the organs that exist throughout different communities along his tour.

His pioneering spirit in the classical music world has helped launch the instrument into a style that can be appreciated by all ages. Through modernizing the sound of the organ, Carpenter has successfully transformed the landscape of classical music. In his feature performance on March 11, Carpenter will perform Bach’s iconic, beautiful, and architectural Goldberg Variations, along with other favorite pieces from the Bach repertoire.

Cameron Carpenter will perform Goldberg Variations at 7 p.m. on March 11, 2022, at the Saugatuck Congregation Church in Westport, Conn. This program is sponsored by Cindy Raney & Co, WSHU Public Radio, and the Lundberg Family Foundation. Tickets to the evening performance are $15 for Quick Members, and $30 for non-members, and can be purchased at .
