Director’s Cut marks the directing debut of advanced theatre students who are tackling four short plays grounded in human connection.
Theatre Fairfield, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s resident student theatre company, will continue its 2022-23 season with Director’s Cut, a series of one-act plays staged by advanced directing students. Director’s Cut, which opened this past Thursday, will be performed this weekend on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 4, at

Director’s Cut marks the directing debut of advanced theatre students who are tackling four short plays dealing with different situations grounded in human connection. The plays presented, from a collection compiled and edited by Kent R. Brown, 35 in 10: Thirty-five Ten-Minute Plays, include A Change of Pace by Edward Pomerantz directed by Emily Sheridan ’24 in which a husband and wife grapple with alleged infidelity; Lillian Goes to the Mirror by Cherisse Montgomery in which the strength of a relationship is tested after a cancer diagnosis, directed by Nora Jacobi ’25; Playtime by Kent R. Brown where a the bond between a single mother and her precocious runaway daughter is put on trial during a midnight meeting, directed by Lillie Kortrey ’23; and written by Brett Neveu The Late Afternoon (Around 3:45 or so) Before Christmas, a play that reveals a personal confrontation between Santa and a mortal, directed by Angelo Corsini ’25.
“All of these plays share a story that each person can relate to in some way,” said student director Nora Jacobi ’25. “I hope that we are able to both entertain and connect with the audience through our series of plays.”
Regarding her piece, Jacobi said, “I hope that my play can allow for a breakdown of the social constructs of beauty standards that women are forced to deal with on a daily basis.” Lillie Kortrey ’23 endeavored for her play to “show the impact of an individual’s actions and how this influences day-to-day lives.” Angelo Corsini, in the Class of 2025, worked on a piece that is perhaps the most lighthearted compared to those of his peers. Through The Late Afternoon (Around 3:45 or so) Before Christmas he wants his audience “to decide for themselves whether Santa’s system is just, and explore [those] implications.” For more information about the production, please visit the
The Director’s Cut cast features Celeste Caseria '26, Ryan Theobald '26, Katharine Gutkoski '26, Liam Tuohey-Kay ‘26, Courtney Sabogal ’26, Kylee Faulkner ’26, Jay Martins ’22, and Mikaela Pratt '24.
Theatre ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp is run by the College of Arts and Sciences’ theatre program. The company serves as a platform for community engagement and produces four annual productions that are typically staged in the Quick Center for the Arts’ Wein Experimental Theatre.
Participation in Theatre Fairfield productions is open to all University students, regardless of their major or minor. Every student has the opportunity to be a performer, writer, director, producer, designer, technician, dramaturg, and critic, and there are many opportunities for advanced work in all of these areas.
