On Thursday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m., Ƭapp's Daniel Pearl World Music Days virtual celebration will feature “Girls in Trouble: Songs about the Complicated Lives of Biblical Women.” The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. and will be delivered as a Zoom webinar. “Girls in Trouble” is an indie-folk/art-pop song cycle by musician/violinist, poet, and Torah teacher, Alicia Jo Rabins. Creating musical midrashim, Rabins explores the hidden places where biblical women’s lives overlap with her own, bringing a world of ancient stories to life through art, text, and personal reflection.
Rabins’ first collection of poetry, , won the 2015 APR/Honickman First Book Prize. Her second collection, , was a finalist for the Jewish Book Award. In addition to , Rabins is the creator and performer of , which began as a one-woman chamber-rock opera and is now an award-winning independent feature film currently on the festival circuit.
The Daniel Pearl World Music Days celebrates the life and legacy of slain Wall Street Journal reporter and talented violinist, Daniel Pearl, who firmly believed that music can further cross-cultural understanding.
