Student-Athletes Shine in Classroom During Fall 2019 Semester

Fairfield women's golf topped the fall 2019 list, with a 3.59 team GPA.

All 20 varsity athletics programs recorded semester GPAs above 3.0.

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Athletics completed one of the strongest academic semesters in department history during the fall of 2019. As a whole, the Stags recorded a 3.36 semester grade-point average, while all 20 of Fairfield’s varsity athletic programs posted team GPAs above 3.0.

“We have consistently challenged our student-athletes to strive for excellence in competition, in the classroom, and in the community, and they continue to meet and exceed our expectations,” said Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann. “Congratulations to all of our student-athletes for their incredible academic performance this past semester, and a sincere thank you to the coaches, faculty, support staff, and University administration who are equally committed to our helping our student-athletes succeed in all aspects of their Fairfield experience.”

Individually, 80 percent of all Stags earned a GPA of 3.0 or better this past semester, bolstered by the 47 percent who claimed ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Dean’s List recognition (3.5 or better) and the 25 student-athletes who garnered a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Among the 20 athletic programs, Women’s Golf led the way with a 3.59 GPA in the fall of 2019. They joined Men’s Basketball, Men’s Lacrosse and Men’s Tennis as the four Fairfield teams to register their highest semester GPA in more than 15 years.
