Fairfield’s Egan School Launches New Master of Science in Healthcare Administration Program

Fairfield Egan's two-year full-time, or three-year part-time, 42-credit program will offer students from any major the opportunity to gain critical healthcare management skills.

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies is launching a new Master of Science in Healthcare Administration (MHA) program.

Developed by the Egan School with support of the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, the program will provide students the knowledge and experience to pursue a wide range of healthcare-related careers. The MHA program complements various fields of study, from nursing to science to business.

“Healthcare careers are growing at a rapid pace and ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s healthcare partners and alumni support an amazing network of opportunities for students,” said Sally Gerard, DNP, RN, CNL, CDE, director of the program. “This program is uniquely positioned to advance the careers of experienced healthcare professionals, as well as add a competitive edge to those new to the field.”

The versatile 42-credit program offers courses across a variety of curricular areas including economics, accounting, healthcare systems, healthcare policy, information technology, marketing, finance, management, and leadership. In the final year of the program, students will complete their capstone and have an opportunity for a practicum experience in a healthcare organization. These experiences will be customized to each student's level of healthcare experience.

Employment opportunities for healthcare administrators are on the rise in the state of Connecticut and nationally. Healthcare administrators may be employed in a wide variety of settings, including policy organizations, insurance organizations, healthcare suppliers, and healthcare providers.

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp is accepting applications this fall and classes begin in the summer of 2020. Admission to the program is open to students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
