The ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Downtown Bookstore will participate in the annual Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair on Saturday, July 20, and host several authors' visits this summer.

Summer is a time for fun, and the ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Downtown Bookstore has exactly that in mind for its upcoming programs.

On Saturday, July 20, the Bookstore will participate in the Town of Fairfield and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce's co-sponsored Annual Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair, with a storefront booth downtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 50 Fairfield businesses are expected to join the Bookstore in this year's event, and a variety of merchandise will be offered up and down Post Road, from the Heritage Square Shopping Center to the Promenade at the Brick Walk.

Making an appearance at the Annual Sidewalk Sale & Street Fair – courtesy of the Bookstore – will be Spencer Quinn, author of the New York Times bestselling book series, Heart of Barkness. From noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Quinn will greet customers and sign copies of his latest book, Heart of Barkness – a Chet and Bernie Mystery. Representatives from Super Paws Rescue, Inc. of Southport will also be on hand to answer questions about pet adoption and small animal rescue.

Quinn won’t be the only author to visit the University's Downtown Bookstore this summer. On Thursday, July 25, chef Linda Soper-Kolton will prepare a variety of delicious vegan recipes from her new co-authored cookbook, Compassionate Cuisine. Released in May from SkyHorse Publishing, Compassionate Cuisine contains vegan recipes alongside heartwarming stories from animal lovers at the Catskill Animal Sanctuary. The 7 p.m. event is free and open to the public, and will take place on the store’s second floor. Guests are asked to RSVP by contacting FairfieldUBookstoreEvents@gmail.com.

On August 2, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., author and illustrator Lizzy Rockwell — together with St. Thomas Aquinas School and organic gardening professionals from — will host a free read-aloud story time featuring Rockwell's book, Plants Feed Me, for children ages 3 and up. Following the read-aloud, kids and families will join Rockwell at the St. Thomas Aquinas School Garden, to harvest vegetables with Homefront Farmers and enjoy the experience of gathering the foods that fuel us.

With additional author events to be announced throughout the year, there’s no telling who may make an appearance next. For more information about upcoming ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Downtown Bookstore events, .
