Faculty and staff are invited to attend either a 12:30 or a 4:45 p.m. information session to learn about the 10-week directed prayer experience at the Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality.
Ignatian Spirituality centers on the belief that God can be found in all things. The 10-week Ignatian experience, “Encountering the Living God,” is an adaptation of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, and emphasizes the importance of one’s personal experience as the vehicle to form a closer relationship with God.
During the 10-week program, participants are paired with a Spiritual Director and meet with him or her for 45 minutes each week. During these sessions, the Spiritual Director provides guidance on noticing the sacred, learning forms of contemplative prayer, and discovering the reality of God’s presence. Individuals who embark on this spiritual journey are encouraged to be open to spiritual growth and willing to set aside 30 to 60 minutes each day for prayerful reflection.
The “Encountering the Living God” experience is for anyone seeking a renewed sense of purpose, a clearer awareness of God’s presence, and a deeper relationship with God. It is also an ideal way to explore whether or not one is being invited to participate in the complete Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius.
Find out more by attending either the 12:30 or the 4:45 p.m. information session scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 in Dolan House Room 107 of the Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality.
