Prior to his most recent book, The Fifth Risk, Michael Lewis has played many different roles. From art historian, to bond salesman, to best-selling author, Lewis’s bibliography of 16 titles includes three books that were later made into Oscar-nominated films: Moneyball, The Big Short, and The Blind Side.

According to advance press for the book, “What are the consequences if the people given control over our government have no idea how it works?” is the central question addressed by Lewis in The Fifth Risk, which was just published this week.  Chronicling both the willful ignorance of ‘dangerous fools’ and the proactive wisdom of unsung heroes among the current administration’s public servants, “" headlined The New York Times review of The Fifth Risk.

Born in New Orleans and educated at Princeton University and the London School of Economics, Lewis is not one to shy away from blunt and occasionally controversial opinions on the economic, ethical, and social trends shaping American life today. This makes him a popular regular columnist for Bloomberg View and Vanity Fair, an eagerly read contributor to The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, and Sports Illustrated, and a timely, much-anticipated Open VISIONS Forum guest speaker at the Quick on October 10.
