Former N.J. Governor Chris Christie on the 2018 Elections, Nov. 7 at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Quick Center

The high stakes U.S. midterms, the battle for Congress, and Connecticut’s future will be the focus of former N.J. Governor Chris Christie’s post-Election Day wrap-up, center stage at the Quick.

The day after one of the nation’s most anticipated midterm elections, Wednesday, November 7, 2018, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp will host former N.J. Governor Chris Christie for a discussion about key races, wins and losses, and the fight for control of Congress. Christie will discuss results of the 36 gubernatorial races across the country on the November ballot this year, including Connecticut’s heated race between candidates Ned Lamont (D) and Bob Stefanowski (R). This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

Chris Christie served two terms as New Jersey’s 55th governor. He was inaugurated in January 2010, was re-elected with 60% of the vote in November 2013, and completed his second term in January 2018.

During his time in office, Governor Christie focused on fiscal responsibility, pension and health benefit reform, education reform, and the opioid abuse crisis on the state and national levels. Governor Christie also led the state of New Jersey’s groundbreaking response to Superstorm Sandy and the rebuilding of the state’s housing, infrastructure, and public schools. He was elected to the Executive Committee of the National Governor’s Association where he served from 2010-2013, followed by election to the post of Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association in 2014.

President Donald J. Trump appointed Governor Christie as Chairman of the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis in the spring of 2017. Following a national seven-month investigation on the crisis, the Commission’s recommendations were adopted by the President.

Prior to his service as governor, Christie served as the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey. As the chief federal law enforcement officer in New Jersey for seven years, he led the fight on terrorism in the post-9/11 period, and increased resources to fight gang violence, gun crimes, and political corruption. His office brought 130 cases to court, prosecuting political corruption at all levels of New Jersey government. He served as one of 17 U.S. Attorneys on the Attorney Generals Advisory Council in Washington, D.C.

Christie specialized in corporate law, securities matters, and appellate advocacy in the private practice of law from 1987-2001. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a BA in Political Science in 1984, and was awarded a JD degree by Seton Hall University School of Law in 1987. He is admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, and the United States Supreme Court. He is currently a senior legal and political commentator for ABC News, and the managing member of the Christie Law Firm and Christie 55 Solutions, LLC, in Morristown, N.J.
