2018 MAAC Regular Season Champions

Fairfield Men's Soccer Hosts the Semifinal Round, Nov. 8

After winning their second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Regular Season Championship, Fairfield Men’s Soccer is set to once again host the upcoming MAAC Championship on Lessing Field. The Stags’ first match will be on Thursday, Nov. 8 in the semifinal round against an opponent to be determined.

Following Wednesday evening’s title-clinching win over Manhattan, the Stags finished the MAAC regular season at 8-0-2 as a part of an 11-4-2 overall record. Fairfield’s Nov. 8 opponent on Lessing Field will be determined by the results of the MAAC Championship First Round on Sunday, Nov. 4. Should the Stags advance to the 2018 MAAC Championship Match, that contest will also emanate from Lessing Field on Sunday, Nov. 11.

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp is the first team to win sole possession of back-to-back MAAC Regular Season Championships since Loyola Maryland in 2008 and 2009. The Stags are aiming to become the first team in program history to win the Regular Season Championship and MAAC Tournament Championship in two straight campaigns.

In other MAAC Championship action, Fairfield Field Hockey defeated Rider, 1-0, on Friday in the semifinal round on Monmouth University's campus in West Long Branch, N.J. Luzi Persiehl '21, who was named the MAAC Defensive Player and Rookie of the Year on Thursday night, accounted for the lone goal of the contest.

The Stags now advance to the MAAC Championship Game for the fourth consecutive season, having won the tournament in both 2015 and 2017. Fairfield will challenge either host Monmouth or Sacred Heart on Sunday at noon for the conference crown.
