Starring acclaimed dancers Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott, Places Please! is a playful performance that offers a glimpse of behind-the-scenes giddiness in the frenetic moments just before the curtain rises.
Ever wonder what’s going on backstage in the moments before performers take center stage? In Places Please!, Larry Keigwin and Nicole Wolcott deliver a cabaret-style performance that mixes a buzz-worthy cocktail of biting satire, quick-witted physical comedy, and gentle moments of deep pathos to draw back the curtain on a pre-show reality usually hidden from the audience.
Featuring a musical score that ranges from Broadway classics to contemporary classical music to ’80s pop hits, you’ll be hard-pressed to not dance in your seat during Places Please!
Dance Enthusiast described the show as “a love letter to the stage. By basking in the artifice and then taking it to task, Keigwin and Wolcott highlight the absurdity and sublimity that put the show in show business.”
“It’s a campy snapshot of the creative process, and a tribute to a long, entertaining friendship,” said The New York Times about Keigwin and Wolcott’s performance, which draws from experiences shared during their 17 years of friendship and collaboration. In addition to Keigwin and Wolcott’s leading roles, this special engagement at the Quick will include surprise appearances by local personalities you won’t want to miss.
KEIGWIN + COMPANY was founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Larry Keigwin after he met Nicole Wolcott at the 2001 Bates Dance Festival in Maine. The energetic duo creates and presents an electrifying and refreshing vision of dance, embodying a theatrical sensibility of wit, style, and heart.
