On April 26, 2018, the Office of Academic Affairs, in collaboration with the 18 th annual Sigma Xi poster session and the Egan School of Nursing senior capstone presentations, presented the annual Research and Creative Accomplishments Symposium to showcase the scholarly works of nearly 400 undergraduate and graduate students.

For the first time this year, the Symposium was held in the newly constructed Oak Room and Dogwood Rooms, filling the upper-level of the Barone Campus Center. Students, parents, donors, faculty, and staff had the chance to speak with students about their research and creative projects, which were mentored by the University’s distinguished faculty. A number of the research projects were funded by the generous support of donors and supporters of Fairfield’s academic mission of excellence.

“[The symposium] was a true embodiment of Fairfield as the modern Catholic Jesuit university – a place where students, with their faculty mentors, examine real problems, offer innovative solutions, and engage deeply with other cultures,” said Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Mary Frances Malone. “Faculty, staff, and students, as well as numerous admission tours, repeatedly commented on how exciting, interesting, and illuminating was this University-wide event. It was truly a showcase of the intellectual prowess and sense of social responsibility so pervasive throughout the ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp educational endeavor.”
