The performance will feature songs in multiple languages from international composers.
Ƭapp’s Glee Club will present the “Global Grooves” concert on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the Ƭapp Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts .
Conducted by Carole Ann Maxwell, D.S.M., accompanied on piano by Beth Palmer and her son, Jonathan Palmer Lakeland, and hosted by Rev. Charles H. Allen, S.J., University chaplain, the concert will feature performances by the Glee Club and the Ƭapp Chamber Singers . Also scheduled to perform are the all-male a cappella group The Bensonians , directed by Marcus DeSouto ‘18, and the all-female chamber group Sweet Harmony , directed by Elisa Castelli ‘18.
The Glee Club will open the evening with Carl Orff’s “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana sung in German Latin, and will be followed by “Jupiter: The Bringer of Jollity” from The Planets , Ani Ma’amin, “Kyrie” from Annelies, and “ Te Deum.” The night will also include Theatre Fairfield performing music from The Spitfire Grill.
Founded in 1947, The Ƭapp Glee Club is the oldest club on Fairfield's campus. Its members share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. The Glee Club has over 110 undergraduate and graduate singers. Their voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, experiencing diverse styles of music and enriching audiences with programming that challenges and inspires.
