Class of 2022 Magis Scholars Boast Record-Breaking Attendance Numbers

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Office of Undergraduate Admission welcomed a record number of Magis Scholar recipients and parents to the University’s annual Magis Scholars campus reception on Monday, February 26.

The increase in the academic quality of our applicants is reflective of the exciting growth and change at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp in recent years.

Reception attendance nearly doubled in size from the previous year, as more than 320 scholars and parents from the Class of 2022 arrived on campus to participate in a full day of activities designed to showcase the many unique and exciting opportunities available both inside and outside of the classroom at Fairfield. In addition to meeting with University deans and faculty, attendees also had the opportunity to participate in interactive and informative panels, while meeting other incoming students who share their same passion and drive.

“It’s exciting to see so many Magis Scholar families on campus,” said Elizabeth Zec, assistant director for Undergraduate Admission. “From check-in to the ending reception, students and parents were very engaged and asked amazing questions. These students are the best of the best of our applicant pool, and we can’t wait to have them on campus as Stags.”

Magis Scholars represent ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s top applicants, all of whom have excelled academically while making the most of the opportunities presented to them throughout their high school careers. Selected students typically engage in top curriculum, including advance placement and honors classes, and immerse themselves in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Magis comes from the Latin term meaning “more,” and offers a fitting description of the selected scholars’ profound drive to do more throughout different aspects of their lives.

"We are thrilled to see an increase in Magis Scholars in our early action pool this year,” said Alison Hildenbrand, director of Undergraduate Admission. "The increase in the academic quality of our applicants is reflective of the exciting growth and change at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp in recent years. Increasingly, students are recognizing Fairfield as an institution with stellar academic programs, talented faculty, and a vibrant community.”
