Fairfield Rising Enters its Final Year

Due to overwhelming support from Fairfield alumni and benefactors, the University’s largest capital campaign extends goal to $210 million

Fairfield Rising, the University’s largest and most successful capital campaign, enters its final year in 2018, with a goal of reaching $210 million by the end of December after well-surpassing its original goal of $160 million last year. The strong participation by the Fairfield community is a clear signal that the University's benefactors are confident now, more than ever, in Fairfield's growth and rise as a national leader in higher education.

The campaign's progress to date is $198.7 million. Thanks to the overwhelming support received by the University's alumni, parents, friends, and benefactors over the last four years, the campaign is being extended so Fairfield can continue its ascent as the modern Jesuit Catholic University.

"I am thrilled to be leading ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp at this time of transformation and rise as the modern Jesuit Catholic Institution," said University President Mark R. Nemec, PhD. "Our academic strength, dynamic student body, and strong faculty coupled with a first rate quality of life, beautiful campus, and exceptional location provide us the perfect combination to ensure that Fairfield remains a model institution with a broad impact on higher education."

Fairfield Rising has been instrumental to the University's dramatic transformation, with many new facilities lending to the campus' picturesque landscape — including the 70,000 square foot home for the new Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing & Health Studies, the new Kanarek Palliative Care Center, renovation of the Leslie C. Quick Recreational Complex, Rafferty Stadium, an expansion of the Barone Campus Center with the new Tully Dining Commons, a renovation of the Alumni Diamond baseball facility, a new residence hall and a new parking garage at the Kelley Center. A new home for the Charles F. Dolan School of Business is currently underway to open in the summer of 2019.

"Since the start of this campaign, over 19,000 donors have contributed to Fairfield Rising, the most signficant campaign in the University's history," said Wally Halas, vice president for University Advancement. "All I can say is thank you. Without your past, and future support, Fairfield couldn't be where we are today. We will continue our rise for the many future generations of Stags."

In addition to money raised for facilities, the campaign has also raised nearly $50 million in commitments toward student scholarship endowment to attract and retain worthy students and increase student diversity; over $80 million in commitments have been raised for academic enhancements to support new programs, centers of excellence and state-of-the-art facilities; and over $50 million has been raised for current use, which includes increased support for the Fairfield Fund which acts as a bridge between tuition revenues and the actual cost of student education, financial aid, support for career services and clubs, and a wide range of other services.

The extended campaign and new goal will contribute to new programs, new academic leadership, student scholarships, and other enhancements.

As the University continues to advance to better meet the demands of the 21st century, support from its 45,000 alumni, parents, and friends will be critical for Fairfield's growth. To learn more about ways to support Fairfield's Rise, please visit fairfield.edu/fairfieldrising .
