An iconic experience, a long parting, an unexpected and heartfelt reunion—it’s all something out of a William Shakespeare play, and yet that’s exactly what unfolded in a ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp class about the Bard.
When the Spring 2018 semester began, Thea Cuccia, a retired fourth grade teacher and lifelong learning student at Fairfield, arrived to audit Dr. Shannon Kelley’s Shakespeare course. Little did she know that she would be studying alongside Billie Watson ’18, who she taught in her own classroom 15 years before.
What came next was also a surprise: As the class introduced themselves. Billie stood up and said, “I’m Billie Watson, and Mrs. Cuccia is my favorite teacher I ever had.”
