She joined the BBC in 1990 as a field correspondent in Zimbabwe, where she had been living and working for an aid agency. In 1999 Kay moved to Washington, D.C. to be a correspondent for The Times of London . She made the jump back to BBC a few years later as the Washington Correspondent for BBC World News America , becoming lead anchor in 2011.

Kay is a frequent contributor to Meet the Press and Morning Joe . In addition to her success in broadcast journalism, she is a regular guest host for the Diane Rehm Show on NPR and co-author of The New York Times bestsellers WOMENOMICS and THE CONFIDENCE CODE: The Science and Art of Self Assurance -- What Women Should Know . At Ƭapp, Kay will zero in on hot button issues on the American scene such as Presidential overreach, congressional ineffectiveness, diplomatic dustups, and global terrorism, while offering insights into the headlines shaping the news.

The Open VISIONS Forum is Ƭapp’s signature lecture series, bringing diverse perspectives and world views from across the political and cultural landscape to engage in public discourse in an informal academic setting. Noted guests have included fashion educator and TV star Tim Gunn, satirist P.J. O’Rourke, activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and tennis star James Blake.
