Alumni, student-athletes, parents, family, and friends came together to celebrate past successes of Varsity Baseball and Women's Lacrosse and to build excitement for their upcoming seasons.
Melting snow and warmer weather signals the start of spring, and more importantly, the start of ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s spring sports season. This past weekend two Friends of Athletics events took place as a means to support these athletics teams and update alumni, parents, friends, and family on where they currently stand.
On Thursday, February 8, Friends of Baseball hosted a Hot Stove event at The Supply House in NYC, courtesy of owner Rob Gillen ’92. The evening served to spark excitement for the team’s upcoming season. With about 50 alumni, parents, family, and friends in attendance, the gathering was able to update the Fairfield Baseball fan base and supporters about the team's progress and where they hope to be in the future. The team also took a moment to honor baseball alum, Scott Larkin ’93, who recently passed away on January 29.
The spirit of the spring season continued with Friends of Women’s Lacrosse. On Saturday, February 10, Friends of Women’s Lacrosse held a reception on campus at Alumni Hall. At this special gathering, the Fairfield Women’s Lacrosse community honored the 2017 Women’s Lacrosse team with framed jerseys with their numbers. About 80 alumni, friends, and family attended the gathering and showed their support for the Women’s Lacrosse family, in addition to gaining excitement about their upcoming season and learning about the current state of the team.
These two recent events were able to foster the excitement for the spring season and reaffirm the passion team members, alumni, friends, and family have for Fairfield Athletics.
