Catch the Stags in action on campus this Saturday, Sept. 16
After tallying a goal and an assist in both of the wins for Fairfield Men’s Soccer this past week, senior Ben Wignall has been recognized with a pair of honors. The forward from Harlepool, England was voted as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week and has been ranked as the ninth-best collegiate player in New England by New England Soccer Journal .
Fairfield’s leading scorer in both the 2014 and 2016 seasons, Wignall is off to a fast start to the 2017 campaign. Last Monday, he converted a penalty kick and assisted on Don-Junior Bobe’s game-winner in the Stags’ 2-1 victory over Lafayette on Lessing Field. Wignall followed the same script over the weekend, netting Fairfield’s first goal and then assisting on the difference-maker – this time finished off by Jonas Vergin – in a 2-1 triumph over Robert Morris.
