"Can I really adapt that? Accommodations and modifications for diverse learners."
On Thursday, December 14, co-directors of the Special Education Program at the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions, Alyson Martin, EdD, assistant professor, and Emily Shamash, EdD, visiting assistant professor, will host a professional development workshop for all educators titled, “Can I really adapt that? Accommodations and modifications for diverse learners.”
Drs. Martin and Shamash will discuss the difference between accommodations and modifications, as well as the basics of making accommodations and modifications for students with and without special needs. Participants will experience practical examples of how everyday learning can be adapted for students of all ages and learning styles, and will learn how to adapt materials for learners who have physical, attentional, behavioral, and/or academic challenges. Drs. Martin and Shamash will offer opportunities to discuss, experience, and practice these approaches during the workshop.
This workshop is free and open to the public and will be held at Alumni House from 5 – 7 p.m. on December 14. Please register at fairfield.edu/gseap-workshop .
