Open MINDS Institute at the Quick Center Announces Spring Semester

The Open MINDS Institute (OMI) — a new, exploratory “classroom without walls,” will present seminars and workshops with master professors from ¶¶Ňô»ĆƬapp and beyond, on topics designed to deepen the experience of the programming at the Quick Center for the Arts.

“Our faculty is made up of engaging experts in their fields, while students weigh in with their own resources and career knowledge,” said Program Director Philip Eliasoph, PhD, professor of art history and visual culture in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The 2017 spring semester has an exciting line-up that includes a discussion-based course on connecting with your family members; a course on engaging with the creative community that culminates with a visit to the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City for a guided tour of current art and rare book exhibitions; and a course that will examine some of the most iconic films of our time.

“Join us this spring if you are seeking more of a “deep dive” beyond bantering dinner conversations,” said Dr. Eliasoph. “It's a mix of academic, social and community citizenship. We invite everybody willing to think, speak and share their ideas to collaborate in our learning adventures.”

Enrolled participants will also be given special access to lectures and performances that make up the Quick Center season. No application essays or SAT scores are required — everyone is accepted. Five-week class sessions begin in late February or early March and run through April.
