Fairfield Scholar-Athletes Receive National Recognition
After an undefeated season in the MAAC, followed by a MAAC Championship, the women’s volleyball team continues to receive major national recognition. In their latest rankings, College Factual the volleyball team among the Top 50 in the country for Division I women’s scholar student athletes.
Said Todd Kress, volleyball head coach: “We are all honored to be included in such an elite group. I am very proud of this group for all they do both in the classroom and on the court.”
In addition to the volleyball team, women’s soccer also received student-scholar national rankings. The team is in the top 10% among Division I women’s soccer programs.
"Student-athletes choose ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp because of its commitment to academic excellence and produce their best efforts in that atmosphere,” said Gene Doris, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp athletic director. “The recognition of our volleyball and women's soccer teams is an example of the emphasis our coaches and student-athletes place on that priority.”
For this ranking, College Factual uses data from the NCAA and US Department of Education, among others, to rank the schools based on athletic competitiveness, which uses polling from coaches and journalists; college quality, which includes caliber of student body, education resources, degree percentage, and post-grad earnings; academic progress rate, which looks at the success rate of passing courses and remaining academically eligible to play; and athletic aid per student.
