Tackling Big Data: Fairfield's New Business Analytics Certificate

Ƭapp’s Dolan School of Business is now offering a certificate program in Business Analytics. Designed for individuals in need of fundamental knowledge in the area of business analytics, either to better perform in a current position, or to become more marketable for a future role in their career, the certificate allows individuals to take four course and earn 12 credits. For working professionals who are wrestling with big data, the graduate certificate is an excellent entry to the knowledge needed to succeed.

Mark Ligas, PhD, associate dean and director of Graduate Programs at the Dolan School of Business shared, “As more businesses struggle with how best to organize, analyze and interpret big data, analytics-educated individuals are in increasingly-high demand. Whether the firm focuses on marketing and sales, strategic consulting, healthcare, public accounting or financial services, the need is apparent for business analysts with exemplary knowledge in the various ‘tools of the trade,’ namely R, EXCEL, Python programming and SQL, as well as the confidence to apply these tools in data mining and big data management scenarios.”

This fall-start certificate is also a good option for people who are unable, at present, to commit to the MS BA degree. Should professionals decide to pursue the MS BA, the 12 certificate credits can be applied to the master’s degree if the individual is accepted into the program.

“We live in a world of numbers, and those who succeed will be the ones who are able to see patterns in the numbers where others don’t,” said Don Gibson, dean of the Dolan School. “Our certificate in business analytics is your key to understanding the new world of Big Data.”
