The 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Basketball Championships tip off next Thursday, March 2 at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. The Fairfield men’s and women’s basketball teams will both conclude their regular seasons this weekend, looking to build momentum heading into the postseason.

Fairfield men’s basketball currently stands at 14-13 overall and 9-9 in the MAAC entering a weekend trip to Western New York. The Stags can finish as high as fifth in the regular season standings with wins at Canisius on Friday night and Niagara on Sunday afternoon. Pending this weekend's results for Fairfield and around the conference, the Stags can open tournament play on either Thursday or Saturday.

Fairfield women’s basketball will play its regular season finale on campus at Alumni Hall this Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. against Rider. After Thursday night's win over Canisius, the Stags will be either the third, fourth, or fifth seed. Fairfield's first tournament game will be on Saturday, March 4, with the time and opponent still to be determined.

More information regarding the 2017 MAAC Basketball Championships, including dates and times for both teams' first games of the weekend, will be announced on as it is finalized by the conference office.
