This year, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp recognizes Doug Hammond '86 with the Alumni Professional Achievement Award because of his executive leadership, business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit and continued commitment to the Jesuit mission through ethical business practices.

Doug is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NFP, a leading insurance broker and consultant that provides employee benefits, property & casualty, retirement and individual private client solutions.

With NFP since 1999, Doug has held multiple leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Under his leadership, NFP has grown to over $1 billion in revenue and is recognized by Business Insurance as the 5th largest global benefits broker by revenue and the 4th largest U.S.-based privately owned brokerThe company is also the 2nd fastest growing U.S. large-group employee benefits broker, as ranked by Employee Benefit Adviser, and the 5th biggest provider of nonqualified deferred compensation plan, as ranked by PlanSponsor. Doug continues to advance initiatives that expand NFP’s capabilities and underscore the company’s strong personal commitment to its clients and employees. In 2013, Doug led NFP’s $1.4 billion go-private transaction with Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP), LLC, a leading private equity firm. In late 2016, Doug led a recapitalization of NFP, scheduled to close in early 2017, valuing NFP at over $3 billion.

In addition to his role at NFP, Doug serves on the Board of Directors for Kestra Financial, one of the largest independent registered broker-dealers in the U.S. He is also a member of the Financial Services Advisory Board of MDP and serves on the Advisory Council of the Dolan School of Business of ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp. He’s also the co-author of Reinsurance Law, a leading subscription treatise on reinsurance practice and legal trends. Doug received his bachelor’s degree from ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp and Juris Doctor from St. John's University School of Law. He lives in Cold Spring Harbor, NY, with his wife Trish and four children, John, Will, Joe and Ava.
