Fairfield, Conn. has been named one of the safest college towns in America by SafeWise, an independent website dedicated to providing consumers with information and educational materials about home security.
The , “30 Safest College Towns in America,” rates Fairfield at #24, citing the impressiveness of the town’s low crime rate despite its large population of more than 61,000 residents. The town’s “abundant outdoor recreation” opportunities and “high quality of life,” were also noted.

Pelazza, Director of ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Department of Public Safety. “Our collaboration with our town’s Police and Fire Departments are prime examples of those partnerships, including training together in crisis management, violent intruder response, and self-defense classes.”
In determining their rankings, SafeWise analyzed the most recent FBI crime statistics, “and sought out safety-oriented programs and initiatives in college cities throughout the nation.”
