Fairfield Presents Student Film Festival Cinefest, April 28
Ƭapp will roll out the red carpet at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts when it presents the 12 th Annual Cinefest Fairfield on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Cinefest is an annual film festival for short films and videos produced by Ƭapp students in the Film, Television and Media Arts program in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. This year, 15 films were chosen from 40 submissions that were selected by a jury of media industry professionals and Fairfield faculty.
Kelsey Shockey ’18, a double major in communication and digital journalism with a minor in film, television and media states, “What I love the most about Cinefest is that student filmmakers are able to showcase their professional work to the University and to the local Fairfield community. It is also pretty neat when you are a crew member on some of the projects and you get to see your name in the credits. It is a great event that allows the audience members to sit back and watch some really well done films that tell amazing fictional and true stories.”
Finalists win awards in writing, cinematography, directing, production design, editing and sound design. An 'Audience Choice' award is also determined by the Cinefest audience immediately following the screenings.
Rachel Lawlor '17 says "I think Cinefest is incredibly important because it shows all of the hard work we’ve put in year round to make these films. No matter what our roles on the films have been, we all come out to support those who have gotten in. I think everyone on campus has always enjoyed a night that celebrates all the great work done by the film program."
