Stags Enter Home Weekend as MAAC Leaders
The Ƭapp volleyball team hosts a pivotal home weekend of MAAC action on George Bisacca Court at Alumni Hall, welcoming Siena and Marist for a pair of conference clashes on October 15-16. The Stags will also celebrate their “Herd to a Cure” Match on Saturday as a part of Fairfield Athletics’ partnership with the Norma Pfriem Breast Center at Bridgeport Hospital. Both matches are set for a 1 p.m. first serve.
Fairfield enters the weekend riding a 10-match winning streak to boost its overall record to 16-5. The Stags recently completed an unbeaten first round of MAAC play to sit atop the conference standings at 9-0. Dating back to last fall, the Stags have won 18 consecutive MAAC regular season contests. During the non-conference season, Fairfield earned wins over perennial CAA contender James Madison and Big East foe St. John's.
The defending MAAC Champion Stags are led by seventh-year head coach Todd Kress. Kress is Fairfield Volleyball’s all-time leader in wins (150) and matches coached (222) and ranks second in program history with a .676 winning percentage. The four-time MAAC Coach of the Year headed the Stags from 1995-98 – winning back-to-back MAAC Championships in 1997 and 1998 – and returned to the Fairfield sidelines in 2014.
