“Money Talks” Seminar - Thursday, November 3
Do you really know how to manage your money? Or are you just watching it come in and go out? Money management skills are essential for students as they prepare for their futures. Unfortunately, without proper instruction, it can be hard to practice good financial planning. In fact, the 2015 Consumer Financial Literacy Survey prepared for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) reported that, only two in five adults have a budget.
For students interested in learning about managing their finances, the Dolan School of Business is hosting “Money Talks: Financial Planning for College Students and New Graduates,” as part of the School’s Professional Development Series. The seminar will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Dolan School of Business, Room 110B from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Topics that will be covered during the seminar include saving for retirement, budgeting and managing debt. These skills are key as students shift from the classroom to the workplace. The seminar aims to provide current students and recent graduates with an understanding of money management, and give them the knowledge that will help them in the future.
“This seminar, taught by an expert in the field, adjunct professor of accounting Scott Brenner, is a vital resource for our students,” said Don Gibson, dean of the Dolan School of Business. “Our students are gaining foundational skills for a business career, but they also need to understand how to plan for their own financial future as well.”
The seminar is part of the Dolan School of Business Professional Development Series. These programs and seminars are designed to give students a clear path for gaining knowledge and skills to complement their coursework and help them find success in the working world.
