13th Annual Presidential Ball: A Night to Remember

‌¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp held its 13 th Annual Presidential Ball on Friday, September 30. The event was hosted by President Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J. and the ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Student Association (FUSA).

The event was founded in 2003 by President Jeffrey P. von Arx, S.J. and has turned into a popular Fairfield tradition. The Presidential Ball serves as a kickoff to the fall semester. The last several years’ themes have included The Great Gatsby and Hollywood Walk of Fame. This year’s event was 1950s theme.

Brianna Tancredi '17 said "This years Presidential Ball was so well planned and really captured the 50's party theme the programmers hoped for, and I could not be more proud of the FUSA Programming Board and everyone evolved in the execution of this event. With the addition of GrooveBoston handling the music and atmosphere under the tent, I believe there was something for everyone to enjoy last Friday night. We have received so many compliments about this event within the past week that I would even say this may be the best Presidential Ball I've attended and worked in all of my four years," she said.

Ticket sales were swift with over 2,300 students attending this year’s gala, and they were not disappointed as the event featured ‌traditional group photos with Fr. von Arx, dancing and great food and decorations. Students dressed in their best 1950s attire could be seen dancing the night away at Bellarmine Hall while enjoying hor d-oeuvres throughout the evening.

"I couldn't be more proud of the FUSA members, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp staff and the Department of Public Safety who worked tirelessly on this year's Pres Ball," said Zoë Ferranti '17, FUSA president. "This year was my final Pres Ball as a senior, and it truly was an incredible and unforgettable evening. I know my fellow seniors are still talking about what a great experience they had and already there's feedback that underclassmen are looking forward to attending in the years to come." Ferranti continued, "Although this event has sold out in years past, this particular year our sell out occurred a lot earlier in the week, and since this is such a desired event we are exploring new locations on campus for future years in order for Pres Ball to hold even more students."
