Students Make Directorial Debut in “Director’s Cut," Dec. 1-4

Theatre Fairfield, the resident production company at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp, continues its 2016-17 season with Director’s Cut , an evening of six, ten-minute contemporary plays directed and performed by students enrolled in the University’s theatre program.

Performances will take place at the PepsiCo Theatre on December 1 and 3 at 8:00 p.m., with a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, December 4. A special dinner theatre performance of Director’s Cut will also take place on Sunday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. at 323 Bar and Restaurant in Westport, CT. Reservations can be made by contacting john@323westport.com .

The student-directed and acted production has become an annual tradition for Theatre Fairfield, and this year’s selection of plays encompass a wide range of topics that include a time-traveling woman’s outrageous adventures, a lawyer trying to seduce his best friend’s wife, and two pregnant teenagers sharing their hopes and dreams for their babies from inside a halfway house. The six plays featured in the production include The Nine-Volt Time Machine by Richard Strand, Hot Wax by Nancy Hanna, The Turnover by Adam Kraar, Undress Me Clarence by Doug Grissom, Covers by Sandra Perlman and Little Sins by Susan Cinoman.

" Director's Cut is a great example of what ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp does so well," said Theatre Professor Marti LoMonaco, PhD, who also serves as the show's producer. "We bring our work out of the classroom and into the world. These six short plays are the first public performances of a new crop of directors and the bar is very high for their achievement."

A combination of six talented juniors and seniors are slated to make their directorial debut in Director’s Cut, including Jessie Lizotte ’18 from Sandwich, MA; Brendan McNamara ’17 from Warwick, RI; Kaylee Moran ’18 from Columbia, CT; Michelle Rakowsky ’17 from New Fairfield, CT; Kelly Sheridan ‘18 from Dumont, NJ; and Erin Strader ’18 from Lake Oswego, OR. The production is stage managed by Fallon Sullivan ’20 from Chatham, NJ, and Melissa Barry ‘18 from Madison, NJ, and features a cast of thirteen ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp students that range from freshmen to seniors.

Theatre Fairfield produces four or more productions every year and serves as a platform for community engagement, as well as a positive and professional learning environment.
