Cindi Bigelow to Present Lecture Nov. 15

Cindi Bigelow, the third generation president of Bigelow Tea, will present her lecture, “Lessons my Father Taught Me,” on Tuesday, November 15, from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Dolan School of Business. Dining Room. This event is sponsored by the Center for Applied Ethics and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact David Schmidt, Director of the Center for Applied Ethics, at dschmidt@fairfield.edu .

An advocate of the importance of ethical values in corporate culture and business decision-making, Bigelow has spoken and blogged about the vital role her father played in her own ethical formation.  Her lecture presentation,"Lessons My Father Taught Me," will provide insights into the importance of ethics and community in her life and work.

Bigelow is a dedicated philanthropist, advocating for a variety of causes. She initiated the Annual Bigelow Tea Community Challenge in 1987, a sponsored charity run that has donated nearly $1.2 million to local charities since its inception. Her Tea for the Troops Project has  — to date — donated four million bags of tea to U.S. service men and women. Other volunteer projects include Habitat for Humanity, Adopt-a-Home through the Kennedy Center and Operation Hope.

Additionally, Ms. Bigelow has championed sustainable practices, earning Bigelow Tea the 2012 designation of a  “Zero Waste to Landfill” company. She is a passionate advocate for women in leadership positions, and has been the keynote speaker at the Greenbrier Women in Leadership Conference and the Network of Executive Women’s Conference, to name a few.

The Center for Applied Ethics at ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp provides ethics courses to undergraduate and graduate students throughout the University, supports faculty ethics research projects and offers ethics programs to community and professional groups in the greater Fairfield area.
