¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Rev. Charles Allen, S.J., will be receiving an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree during Bridgeport’s St. Vincent’s College commencement ceremony on Friday, May 20, 2016.

Fr. “It has been my joy during these past 21 years to be of service to the faculty, staff and students at St. Vincent’s College,” said Fr. Allen. “The opportunity to offer the Graduation Mass for the students and conduct Days of Recollection and Communion Breakfasts for the alumni have made my life all the more meaningful. I am most grateful for this honor.”

Fr. Allen’s Jesuit service, which began when he was 17, has taken him to Mexico, Italy, France, Spain, England, Ireland, Hong Kong and the Philippines. Fr. Allen has a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Philosophy from Boston College, as well as Master's Degrees from the Gregorian (Rome), Brown and Columbia Universities in Theology, Mathematics and Educational Administration, respectively.

To be considered for an honorary degree, St. Vincent’s looks for individuals who meet the core values of St. Vincent’s in their everyday lives. These include service of the poor, reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity and dedication.
