The Quick Center is pleased to bring you The Berlin Philharmonic in Cinema, led by legendary conductor Sir Simon Rattle. The HD screening of this concert will take place at the Quick on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7 p.m.
Acclaimed as “one of the greatest conductors of all time” by BBC Music Magazine , Sir Simon Rattle leads the Berlin Philharmonic as they showcase Beethoven’s masterful brilliance. The screening will begin with exclusive interviews with Sir Simon Rattle as well as some orchestra members as they intimately describe their experiences working on The Berlin Philharmonic’s October 2015 cycle of Beethoven’s nine symphonies, highlighting the five night consecutive performances at Carnegie Hall.
"We felt this was a rare and wonderful treat for our audiences to have the opportunity to experience this acclaimed orchestra and conductor at the Quick Center through our live in HD screenings,” shared Lori Jones, director of Programming and Audience Development at the Quick Center.
When discussing the music of Beethoven, Sir Simon Rattle said, “To do Beethoven symphonies is hard enough, but to do a cycle of Beethoven symphonies is something very different.” Due to the contrasted styles of the sunny, cheerful Fourth and the powerful, ecstatic Seventh, this is definitely a not-to-be-missed musical evening.
