Theatre Fairfield, Ƭapp’s resident production company, with the generous support of the Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation, presents Daniel Pearle’s compelling play, A Kid Like Jake . A Kid Like Jake is a powerful theatrical production that focuses on themes such as parenthood, gender, class and acceptance. The play centers on Alex and Greg, a married couple whose son is a candidate for some of Manhattan’s most prestigious kindergarten programs. When his passion for Cinderella and playing dress-up starts to raise concern over his eligibility for these programs, Alex and Greg are faced with a difficult decision in doing what they think is best for their son.

“I cannot wait to present this production to the community,” said director Tori Schuchmann ’16. “The play itself leaves you grappling with the questions that present themselves when raising a child, and displays the honest realities that exist in the social and academic worlds we live in.”

Rounding out the cast of this entirely student-run production are Molly Gregory ’16, Jessie Lizotte ’18, Brendan McNamara ’17, and Grace Schiller ’17. Assisting Schuchmann  are Nick Solimini ’16 as stage manager, Kaylee Moran ’18 as assistant stage manager, Brendan McNamara ’17 as scenic designer and producer, Aubrey Sierer ’16 as costume designer, Alex Mongillo ’16 as lighting designer, Kelly Sheridan ’18 as technical director, and Robbie Schwartz ’16, who composed original music for the show.

This production is made possible by a generous grant from the Jamie A. Hulley Arts Foundation, a local 501(c)3 non-profit organization that “provides educational and career development opportunities in the arts.”

Theatre Ƭapp is Ƭapp’s resident production company. Theatre Fairfield produces three or more productions every year and serves as a platform for community engagement as well as a positive and professional learning environment.
