A Moon for the Misbegotten at the Quick Tonight (Feb. 12)!

Come to the Quick Center tonight (Feb.12) at 8 p.m. to view a special performance by the Walnut Street Theatre Company of Pulitzer Prize-winner Eugene O’Neill’s A Moon for the Misbegotten. O’Neill’s final play, published in 1943, was not only performed five times on Broadway, but was also a highly regarded 1975 film starring Jason Robards and Colleen Dewhurst.

"As part of the Quick Center’s 25th Anniversary season, we wanted to share the rich history of artists and timeless works based in Connecticut,” said Lori Jones, The Quick Center’s director of programming and audience development. "We are honored to have a company as esteemed as Walnut Street Theatre presenting this piece as well as leading educational workshops with the students of ¶¶Ňô»ĆƬapp.”

This love story takes place in 1923 on a decaying Connecticut tenant farm. Josie Hogan, a rambunctious individual with a witty mind and a tarnished reputation, has led a lackluster life. She works on the Tyrone farm with her oppressive father, Phil Hogan, who is a tenant farmer. The mother of the Tyrone family suddenly dies, and her suspicious alcoholic son, James Tyrone Jr., returns to the farm and inherits the property. One autumn night under the moon, James confesses his love to Josie. The feeling is mutual, and it becomes the beginning of a heartbreaking scenario. These two “misbegotten” individuals aspire for hope and comfort under the lover’s moon. What happens though when dawn strikes and the moon is gone? Purchase your ticket now to see where their love story takes them!

Tickets are $40, $35, $30, and $5 for ¶¶Ňô»ĆƬapp students. To purchase tickets, please visit the Quick Center or call the box office at 203-254-4010 or toll-free at 1-877-ARTS-396
