Fairfield Hosts Annual Career and Internship Fair Sept. 30

¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Fall Career and Internship Fair will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall. All majors are encouraged to attend to meet employers and gain valuable insight for seizing internships and full-time employment opportunities following graduation.

400 to 500 students are expected to attend the fair this year, making it a valuable networking opportunity where students can make personal connections with employers. “Many employers return each year because they find such great students from Fairfield,” said Julie Tuozzoli, the manager of Employer Relations and Alumni Career Development. Tuozzoli said that employers are also very impressed by sophomores that start early looking for internships.

There will be a great mix of nonprofit, consumer product companies, engineering, accounting firms and financial institutions present. Students should also look out for many new and notable employers as well as returning favorites. One new employer is Nestle Waters. “They have a wide variety of corporate functions and a great summer internship program,” said Tuozzoli.

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is another new employer that will be present at the fair. “They are very excited to partner with Fairfield science and business majors and are looking for a variety of roles as well,” said Tuozzoli.

Some of the other organizations in attendance will be AMN Healthcare; accounting firms KPMG and Deloitte & Touche, Teach for America, The McIntyre Group, Fidelity Investments, Vedicsoft and Townsquare Media.

Tuozzoli said that students planning to attend the fair should dress for success and come prepared with extra copies of their resume and knowledge about the attending organizations.

For students who would like more tips on how to prepare for the fair, The Career Planning Center will be hosting a pre-workshop on Monday, September 28, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Kelley Center Presentation Room. Information presented will include what to wear, what to bring, how to network, strategies to utilize, as well as making a positive first impression. Stop by to learn how to prepare effectively!

Don’t forget about the Stags’ Job Shadow Program:
It’s never too early to start thinking about Fairfield’s Job Shadow program. During winter break, Career Planning pairs students with alumni professionals for a day or half-day of rewarding career exploration. Through this opportunity, alumni can have a powerful influence on mentoring a Fairfield junior or senior.
