Women's Lacrosse Wins MAAC Championship, Begins NCAA Action on Friday
With a 9-7 win on Sunday at Canisius, the Fairfield women’s lacrosse team has claimed the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship. The Stags have earned an automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship, their first appearance on the national stage since 2009. Fairfield will open tournament action against Ivy League Champion Princeton on Friday, May 8 in Stony Brook, N.Y at 7 p.m.
The winner of the Fairfield/Princeton matchup will advance to face Stony Brook on Sunday, May 10 at noon.

Sunday’s win marked the Stags’ third MAAC Championship (2001, 2009, 2015) overall and the second during the tenure of Head Coach Mike Waldvogel. Junior goalkeeper, Chelsey Sidaras, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and was joined on the All-Championship Team by Courtney Chmil, Alex Fehmel, Meghan Reda and Colleen Reynolds.
