98 Percent 2014 Grads Off to Flying Start
Each year, ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp’s Career Planning Center staff surveys the most recent graduating class to see how they are faring career-wise six months after graduation.
Statistics recently in from this year’s survey bring good news about Fairfield graduates. Of the Class of 2014 who responded to the survey, 98% have either secured full-time employment, placement in a graduate or professional school, or are participating in a volunteer service program . The percentage of responders (78%, or a total of 586 students) is higher than many peer institutions.
Here are a few other interesting statistics from the survey:
- Of the responders, 74.5% have full-time employment; 21.6% are attending graduate/professional school; 1.9% are engaged in volunteer service (such as the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, and other organizations).
- The average salary for a Class of 2014 graduate is an impressive $49,638.
- Both salaries and the number of graduates employed full-time have increased over the past two years.
- The fields with the highest employment rates for the past two years are Communications and Marketing.
“These statistics are a reflection of the caliber of our students,” said Dr. Thomas Pellegrino ’90, vice president for Student Affairs. “They underscore the commitment we have at Fairfield to making sure that we are attending to the success of our students not just while they are here, but after they graduate.”.
