Orin Grossman to Discuss Gershwin, April 7

Beloved professor emeritus Orin Grossman will discuss one of his favorite topics – the genius of George Gershwin – at Sound Bites, a free, lunchtime series at the Quick Center for the Arts, at noon on Tuesday, April 7. Dr. Grossman will discuss and play selections from Gershwin’s operatic masterwork Porgy & Bess in the Wien Experimental Theatre.

Sound Bites debuted during the Quick Center’s 2014-15 season with an October opera discussion and continued in March with music professor Brian Torff’s “View from the Bassline.” It will conclude on Wednesday, May 27, when former Quick Center Executive Director Gary Wood returns to discuss and play sections of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto . All events run from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Wien.

Audience members are encouraged to bring their own lunch and the Quick Center provides beverages. You can also order a specially discounted lunch through Einstein Bros Bagels. Call 203-334-5906, ext. 3, and mention the Sound Bites lunch order and your lunch will be delivered to the Quick Center. Orders must be received at least 24 hours before the event.
