Meredith Kazer Among Most Influential Nursing Deans in U.S.
Meredith Wallace Kazer, Ph.D., APRN, FAAN, professor and dean of the School of Nursing, continues to lead Fairfield’s School of Nursing to national acclaim. Mometrix, a comprehensive test preparation company, recently recognized her leadership when they named her one of the most influential deans of nursing in the United States.
Dr. Kazer is included on a list comprised of deans from Columbia University, New York University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Pennsylvania. She placed 10 th in a list of 30. For the full list, visit the .

Some of the factors taken into consideration for placement on this impressive list included awards, ‘Top 10’ rankings, NIH funding, and NCLEX passing percentage.
An award-winning author, Dr. Kazer oversees a nursing school that has esteemed faculty who are clinical experts in patient care, state-of-the-art resources, and array of graduate programs preparing future nursing leaders.
Her career-spanning focus on improving the quality of life of older adults has resulted in numerous patient-centered interventions. Dr. Kazer's work has been disseminated in ten books, more than 70 peer-reviewed journal publications, 26 book chapters, and over 100 research and invited presentations.
In 2014, she was named among the 15 top adult gerontology professors and in 2011, she was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing, an appointment reserved for nurse leaders at the forefront of the profession nationwide.
This news follows other recent national achievements for the School of Nursing including being ranked in the top 20% of graduate programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report. RNtoBSN, an association of professional nurses, educators, writers and editors, ranked its RN to BSN program ninth out of 50 in the nation.
