Lacrosse Doubleheader Brings Conference Rivals to Rafferty, April 11
The Fairfield men’s and women’s lacrosse teams return to campus this Saturday, April 11 to host a doubleheader at Rafferty Stadium. Opening draw for the women’s game is slated for 11 a.m. with the men taking to the turf of Conway Field at 2 p.m.
Fairfield women’s lacrosse carries a five-game winning streak into the weekend as the Stags host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference preseason favorite Canisius. Both teams are 4-0 in MAAC play this spring – two of the conference’s three remaining unbeaten teams. The Stags will also celebrate Senior Day on Saturday with an on-field ceremony set for 10:45 a.m.
The second game of Saturday’s twin bill will feature a pair of nationally-ranked teams. Fairfield men’s lacrosse has won five straight games to enter the national rankings at No. 20 and sits at 2-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Stags’ opponent this weekend is No. 16 Towson, the only other CAA club to boast a 2-0 mark. Fairfield has already defeated one nationally-ranked opponent at Rafferty Stadium this spring following an 11-4 win over then-No. 20 Villanova on March 21.
