Quick Center hosts Open House and free Young Artists Series concert May 4

Patrons of the arts from throughout the area are invited to an Open House at ¶¶Ňô»ĆƬapp’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Sunday, May 4, 2014 , from 12 noon to 5 p.m.  The occasion marks the day subscription tickets for the Quick Center’s 2014-15 season are on sale. The Open House features refreshments, the opportunity to get behind-the-scenes information on performers and speakers for the upcoming season, and the chance to enter and win a Quick Center membership that offers special benefits. At 2 p.m., Quick Center Director Gary Wood will discuss the new season, presenting descriptions of the artists. At 3 p.m., patrons may attend The Young Artists Series concert featuring pianist Jennifer Campbell in the Quick Center’s Wien Experimental Theatre. All events are free and open to the public.

With programming that exemplifies diversity and excellence, the Quick Center’s 2014-2015 season features nearly 50 events being presented between September and next May. Opening weekend begins on Friday, September 19, with Broadway’s Next H!t Musical . Straight from NYC, this award-winning improvised comedy features a spontaneous evening of music, humor, and laughter. On Saturday, September 20, Nancy & Beth , a bawdy and edgy musical duo featuring Emmy Award-winning actress Megan Mullally (Will & Grace, Party Down, Childrens Hospital) and actress Stephanie Hunt (Friday Night Lights), joined by their band, perform an eclectic mix of standards. And on Monday, September 22, Open VISIONS Forum presents An Evening with David Gregory, featuring David Gregory, anchor of NBC’s Meet the Press.

Visitors will have an opportunity to purchase advance subscriptions to nine different series packages, including the flexible My Picks’package that includes four or more performances of their choice, saving 20 percent off regular ticket prices. Visitors may enter to win a free membership at the Supporter level, which includes advance purchase priority for The Met: Live in HD Series, along with a special Quick Center gift, and complimentary beverage coupons.

The Young Artists Series concert at 3 p.m., featuring pianist Jennifer Campbell, is presented in association with The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation. Campbell was a finalist of the 2012 New York International Piano Competition, a biennial event presented under the auspices of The Stecher and Horowitz Foundation. She has appeared as a chamber musician and recitalist in Europe and the mid-Atlantic U.S. and has performed at notable halls including Lincoln Center, the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, and the Musikhauset Aarhus in Denmark. Also an avid composer, Campbell has had her music performed by numerous prominent artists. One of her compositions, “Perceptions of Shadows” (2013), is on the program, as are Beethoven's “Piano Sonata in E Major, Op. 109," Chopin's “Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op. 52," Schumann's “Piano Sonata No. 1 in F-sharp minor, Op. 11," and David Auldon Brown's “Three Pedal Point Preludes” (1998). Admission is free and open to the public.

Season subscriptions are available through the Box Office in person or by phone at (203) 254-4010. The Quick Center’s 2014-2015 single tickets for members who join at the $250 “Friend” level and above go on sale on June 9. Single tickets to the general public go on sale on June 23.
