Kevin Greener Chosen for Valedictory Address at Undergraduate Commencement

Graduating senior Kevin Greener from the ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp men’s swimming & diving team has been selected to give the valedictory address at the 64th Commencement Undergraduate Ceremony on Sunday, May 18. The ceremony will take place on Bellarmine Lawn (weather permitting) at 9:30 a.m.

Greener was a captain of the team in his final campaign as a Stag and has been an important part of the distance freestyle corps throughout his career. He graduates as the program record holder in the 1500m freestyle (17:11.70). Greener also holds all-time top-10 performance times in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle events.

Greener is a four-time ECAC Championships qualifier along with having competed at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships each year. This past season at MAACs, he posted an ECAC qualifying time of 16:33.01 in the 1650y freestyle, for a personal best. He placed 12th overall in the 1000y freestyle and posted another ECAC qualifying time in the 500y freestyle.

Along with his athletic achievements, Greener has excelled in the classroom. He is a three-time MAAC All-Academic selection and has been named to the ¶¶Òô»ÆƬapp Dean’s List.

Greener has helped the men’s swimming & diving team earn the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Team Scholar All-America Award for the fifth consecutive semester. The team achieved this award by maintaining a 3.21 grade point average (GPA). For the second straight year, he has helped the team earn the NCAA Public Recognition Award. The team collected the award by achieving an Academic Progress Rate (APR) that ranked among the top 10 percent in their respective sport.

Greener will graduate with a degree in physics with a minor in mathematics.
