Prominent investment banker and philanthropist Kenneth Langone will deliver the 2014 Charles F. Dolan Lecture at Ƭapp on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 7:30 p.m., in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Mr. Langone is president and chief executive officer of Invemed Associates, LLC, and co-founder of The Home Depot, Inc. He is also a major benefactor of New York University.

The lecture - free and open to the public - is entitled, “Investing for the Long Term.” Reservations are required. Contact the Quick Center Box Office at 203-254-4010 to reserve your complimentary tickets.

The Charles F. Dolan Lecture Series was inaugurated in 2001. Past lecturers have included such internationally recognized business leaders as Jeffrey Immelt, Jack Welch, Anne M. Mulcahy, E. Gerald Corrigan, Abby Joseph Cohen, Karen Katen, Sandy Weill, and Brian Moynihan.

Donald E. Gibson, Ph.D., dean of Ƭapp’s Charles F. Dolan School of Business, said it is a great honor to have Mr. Langone among the group of highly accomplished business leaders who have delivered the annual lecture. “Mr. Langone, a visionary in the world of business, will be sharing his insights and ideas at this much anticipated event,” Dr. Gibson said. “Those attending the lecture will undoubtedly gain from hearing about how he judges financial risk, how he chooses people and ideas to invest in, and his ideas about business trends of the future.”

Mr. Langone is the founder and chief executive officer of Invemed Associates LLC, a New York Stock Exchange member firm specializing in healthcare and high technology companies. He is a co-founder of the Home Depot, Inc., and was a director and member of the executive committee of its board since it was founded in 1978 until 2008.   He also serves on the boards of Unifi, Inc., Micell Technologies, Relationship Sciences, and Geeknet, Inc.

Mr. Langone received a B.A. from Bucknell University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business; he remains active with both institutions currently serving on the board of overseers of the Stern School and on the board of trustees of New York University. He is also chairman of the Trustees of New York University Medical Center. In April 2008, the medical center was renamed the NYU Langone Medical Center as a result of Mr. Langone and his wife Elaine’s generous gift.  He was a member of the Bucknell University Board of Trustees where he served as chairman of its nominating committee, its endowment and as a member of its executive committee.

In addition, he is on the board of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, The Ronald McDonald House of New York, The Medal of Honor Foundation, Horatio Alger Society Foundation, and the Harlem Children’s Zone and he is chairman of its charter school, Promise Academy.

Charles F. Dolan is the founder and chairman of Cablevision Systems Corporation. The Charles F. Dolan School of Business was named in recognition of Charles and Helen Dolan’s service and philanthropic contributions to Ƭapp.
